ADAM WHO?

The short version:
ADAM IS ONE OF THE FASTEST CARICATURE ARTISTS IN THE WORLD.

Adam taught himself to draw caricatures in High School (1989)

Since college, (1992) Adam's specialty has been WALKING AROUND, drawing drunk people with ADD in hyper-crowded, barely lit places like nightclubs and cocktail parties. Being self taught, there was nobody around to tell him that he was freakin' crazy.

Overcoming the challenges of this environment caused him to be unusually fast, skillful, versatile and personable. In fact, almost impossibly so. He has evolved into a super hero among entertainers and a legend among caricaturists. His secret powers are that he is immune to the speed, space, lighting and environmental limitations that inhibit other artists and entertainers from performing. He often books by the amount of guests expected and challenges himself to draw and entertain every single one of them! Adam is the professional entertainer with the courage to go above and beyond your expectations and meet any logistical challenge you dish out. (Oh, he is available for kids parties too, FYI.)

Long version:
Adam taught himself how to do caricatures in high school at the request of his art teachers.

In 1993 he began doing caricatures in bars for tips and enrolled in the student freelance art program at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he received an Associates Degree in Visual Communications in 1994. He majored in Illustration and Computer Graphics.

In 1997, he got so busy with caricatures that he decided to try it full time and started the BIG POTATOES Caricature Company which was luckily a hit! Fellow caricaturist, Ron Kantrowitz (now WWW.MUGSHOTZONLINE.COM) became his good friend and eventually partnered with him in the business.

In 1999, the two of them toured the Eastern United States for a month. Stopping and doing caricatures in the hottest night clubs of the 16 or so cities they visited in NC, SC, GA, FL, TN, LA and OH. Cleveland was the last stop on this trip and in 2003 Adam moved there.

In 2005, shortly after getting married, Adam spent a very successful summer in Ocean City, Maryland doing caricatures in the bars and on the boardwalk.


Adam is a member of the NCN (National Caricaturist Network) and a member of the Cleveland Convention and Visitor's Bureau, COSE and a COSE Art's Network council member. He has also been a member of Busk:Pittsburgh, Cleveland Sparx in the City and the Greater Pittsburgh CVB as well as several chambers of commerce and city planning committees. Adam teaches caricature, painting and drawing classes at local arts centers.

Adam hopes to one day have a yard full of kids and live in the mountains in a hand hewn log cabin of his own building. He is handy and likes to build stuff and do creative things like paint and take pictures. He loves being outdoors and is drawn to anyplace with trees, rocks and rivers. Adam also enjoys writing and has written a manuscript on the subject of caricature busking in bars and is currently working on a novel based on the 6000 mile tour in 1999. He hopes to publish them together in 2008. He would also like to make a Guinness World Record attempt/fundraiser involving speed caricatures soon. And if possible meet Big Foot someday too
